Training Alpacas & Alpaca Care

Owners of alpacas, either prospective or new, require slightly different courses and we have tailored these from our own experience.

We are presenting a range of courses designed to help you:

  • Decide whether alpacas are for you?
  • Choose the right alpaca
  • Learn how to look after your alpacas

We deliberately keep our numbers small so that everyone has the hands on experience that they would like, have plenty of opportunity to ask questions and for the day to be relaxed, informal and yet informative.

Information sheets are given out throughout the day for you to take home and refreshments are provided.

Your time with us is designed to be friendly, practical, informative and fun.

We hold our workshops on a regular basis and the dates are shown below. We are able to run our events even if it is wet as we have purpose built, under cover facilities.

All our courses and workshops include refreshments. Special diets can be catered for. Accommodation is available locally if required.

Alpaca Care Day

There is more to alpacas than meets the eye so we designed this full day course for people who want to know that bit more. The day covers topics from choosing your alpacas, the pitfalls and spotting signs of ill-health to the usual routine care required, what medications are commonly used, their nutritional needs as well as a myriad of useful facts.

Our objective is to show you how easy alpacas are to look after and we will give you the opportunity to see how we trim toenails and how injections are carried out, simply and quickly.

Camelidynamics

Camelidynamics PractitionerAs the only practitioner in Europe, Jay is able to provide private and semi-private lessons teaching you how to handle your alpaca, or llama, in a way which is efficient, respectful and fun- the guiding principles of Marty McGee Bennett’s Camelidynamics work.

Either on a one to one basis or in a small group of five people or less, we will show you how to halter and lead your alpaca, or llama, give injections or oral drenches and how to trim toe-nails easily.

These lessons will change your world and your relationship with your alpacas.

We are holding a number of "An Introduction to Camelidynamics" half day courses throughout the year and please see below for dates. But, places are very limited so, if you are interested, please book early to avoid disappointment.

Showing

For those of you who would like to enter the showing side of alpacas, this is the course for you.

A full day course, we will guide you through the show rules, what the judge is looking for and then teach you how to act and present your alpaca in the show ring.

A vital part of showing is the behaviour of your alpaca in the ring and we will show you how you can handle your alpaca in preparation for the show ring to reduce the stress of the event for both of you and how to handle a nervous alpaca.

A mock show ends the day with suitable awards!

The following date is available:
